ABOUT BIRDSONG

Birdsong is my home for postpartum-centered care, education, and justice-rooted leadership.

I created Birdsong because I believe the seasons that change us…birth, parenthood, identity shifts, care work, deserve more structure, more community, and more goodness than our systems currently offer.

Postpartum is not a phase. It is a foundation.

Through mentorship, training, facilitation, and strategic consulting, I work with parents, doulas, and institutions to redesign how we care. My focus is simple and radical: families should feel supported, doulas should stay in the work, and postpartum should never be treated as an afterthought.

Birdsong exists to make care visible, sustainable, and foundational to how we build families and systems.

VALUES & APPROACH

Erica Livingston, Founder & CEO

Hi friend. I’m Erica.

I am a postpartum-centric full-spectrum doula and maternal health educator working at the intersection of birth justice, public health, and systems change. I founded Birdsong because postpartum deserved to be centered.

After supporting thousands of families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I know how often care drops off just when it matters most. Birdsong exists to redesign that model, through mentorship, training, facilitation, and strategic consulting that begins with the end in mind.

I am also a lifelong artist. Before birthwork, I worked in performance, comedy, and theater. Today, I understand doulaship as an art form, the doula arts, where presence, timing, intuition, and care are practiced with rigor and reverence. I continue to write and create through my creative practice at ericalivingston.com.

My work is guided by a simple and radical belief:

Families should feel supported.

Doulas should stay in the work.

Postpartum should never be treated as an afterthought.

I believe rest is revolutionary, humor builds trust, and care work is sacred work.
